TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The East Java Police have identified a body from the AirAsia plane that was downed in the waters off Pangkalan Bun, West Kalimantan. The body was retrieved from the sea on Wednesday, December 31, 2014.
“The female’s body has been identified as Hayati Lutfiah Hamid, a Sidoarjo resident,” said the chief of the East Java Police’s Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Unit, Sr. Comr. Budiyono, at the East Java Police Headquarters on Thursday, January 1, 2015.
Budiyono said the remains would be returned to her family at around 16:00 at the East Java Police Bhayangkara Hospital by East Java Police chief Insp. Gen. Anas Yusuf and Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini.
Besides Hayati, six other bodies that have been sent to Surabaya are still being identified at the hospital. The medical team has also identified another body as AirAsia flight attendant Khairunissa.
Four bodies have been flown to Surabaya from Pangkalan Bun since yesterday, while another has just been taken from the sea by SAR team and is still in Pangkalan Bun.
