TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affair Indroyono Soesilo said that Indonesian naval force with over 154 battleships has earned its global reputation. "Foreign battleships will think ten times before having the guts to attack Indonesia," Indroyono told Tempo.
Indroyono also expects that the force can be used as a means to uphold law and order in Indonesian waters, particularly under the reign of new Navy Chief of Staff. He added that the new NCS will face several problems, such as illegal fishing, illegal logging, and illegal mining.
As for naval diplomacy, Indroyono said that the Navy can take over while awaiting the new presidential policy upon the matter.
Moreover, Indroyono added that the new NCS should be able to bring about law and order in Indonesian waters, along with other related government institutions under the Ocean Security Agency.
