Train Ticket Price to Rise in January 2015

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) will increase the price of short and long-distance train ticket on January 1, 2015 due to subsidized fuel price hike.
According to Makmur Syaheran, spokesperson for PT KAI, the company has not increased ticket price until the end of this year. The new tariff will be announced if there is already a deal on public service obligation (PSO). “Especially for economy-class train,” Makmur told Tempo on Monday.
Julius Adravida Barata, spokesperson for the Transportation Ministry, said there are three maximum price increases for train fees, each for long, medium and short-distance route.
For long-distance trip, the maximum increase is Rp13,000, and for medium and short-distance trip, the maximum increases are Rp9,000 and Rp3,000 respectively. Barata said the changes apply to all regions in Indonesia.
