TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After being officially inaugurated at DPR-MPR building on Monday, October 20, 2014, president-elect Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and vice president-elect Jusuf “JK” Kalla are planned to be taken in a parade on two carriages. The Indonesian National Police (Polri) will deploy officers on cavalry horses to escort the parade.
“We’re asking the cavalry officer not to wear uniform but traditional or carnival clothes,” Jay Wijayanto, Folk Party organizing committee chief, said in a press conference on Saturday, October 18, 2014.
The parade is the opening folk party initiated by Jokowi-JK’s volunteers that will be started from the Bundaran HI (Hotel Indonesia Roundabout) to the State Palace. Both horses for the carriages are specially brought from Solo.
During the parade, public will be allowed to watch from left and right sides of the road. There would be no barricade between people watching and the president’s convoy.
“But we will organize a human barricade to prevent residents from approaching the convoy,” Jay said.
Jokowi and JK are scheduled to depart from Bundaran HI at 12:45 local time and arrive at the State Palace at 14:00 local time. Jokowi and JK then will be welcomed in an official ceremony by outgoing President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
