TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A 60-kilogram LPG tank has exploded at the Jakarta City Hall Complex in Jakarta earlier today. The explosion at around 2p.m. caused panic among employees at the Complex.
The explosion sent a number of employees who were praying screaming and shouting out of the prayer room nearby the explosion site.
An employee at the scene remembered hearing the blast at 2.10 p.m. "The noise was very loud and it surprised everyone. We saw some sparks and flames too," said Dian, who went on to say that firefighters stationed within the Complex immediately worked to put out the fire.
"It is safe now. The fire was taken under control by the on-duty firefighters we have in the Complex," said Dian. The tank was used by welders working on a site renovation.
Based on Tempo's observation, the area is back to normal.
