TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama is confident that the 18th Asian Games in 18 will run smoothly. The development of main and supporting facilities in three years will be assisted by private sector. “Besides from Jakarta, we also want to ask for assistance from private sector,” said Ahok on Tuesday.

Private sector will provide accommodation and infrastructure to support the activities during the event. For example, the Jakarta government will rent private-owned apartments located near the venue where the match is for two moths. The apartments will function as places to stay for athletes and committees.

Jakarta will host the 18th Asian Games with Palembang and Banding. The 17th Asian Games, which is held this year in Incheon, South Korea, just ended on Saturday, October 4.

For transportation, an integrated system for all transports is the main asset for the city that becomes host for sporting event or convention.

Besides MRT and free bus procurement through implementation of Electronic Road Pricing, Light Rail Transit that connects places in short distance and bus rapid transit are the main tasks that must be completed before Ahok’s term ends. “Everything must be finished,” said Ahok.
