Crowded Electric Trains (KRL) Bogor-Jakarta, Wednesday (19/6). The Government allocated Rp704.77 billion for "Public Servive Obligation" (PSO). TEMPO/Subekti.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Public Relations Division of the I Operational Region of state-owned railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI), Agus Komarudin, said the electric trains (KRL) connecting Jakarta and its satellite city Bogor had resumed operation following the landslide incident on its railway yesterday.

However, the trains can only move at 5 kilometer per hour.

"The railway has been functioning since 5.15 am," Agus said today. As previously reported, the KRL train connecting Jakarta and Bogor stopped its operation after a landslide struck in the railway between Bojong Gede station and Cilebut station at 8.18 last night.

After the incident, the passengers were unable to continue their trip to Bogor and had to get off at Bojong Gede station, West Java.

Agus said PT. KAI had immediately employed its personnel to repair the damaged railway. The landslide was triggered by the overflowing of Kalibaru River, not far from the area.

"There’s a big amount of garbage piled up in the river, causing the water to overflow to the streets, houses and railway," Agus uttered.

Agus blamed the incident on Bogor regional government for its incompetence in handling the garbage since the area has also often experienced flooding.
