TEMPO.CO, Lamongan – Maharani Zoo and Cave is ready to entertain homecomers in Paciran district, Lamongan regency, with more animal collections expanded area.
Maharani Zoo and Cave general manager Ali Boy said the number of visitors during holidays could reach more than 650. “On regular days, visitors are around 550 and 600 people.
On July 2014, Maharani Zoo complex was expanded from 2.8 hectares to 3.5 hectares. The zoo is home to 746 animals of hundreds of species, such as Benggala tigers and African lions. Four elephants from Palembang and Pekanbaru are presently en route to the zoo.
The zoo also houses preserved bugs, such as dragonflies, grasshoppers and spiders. The Maharani Cave, meanwhile, which is nestled inside the zoo area, is offering visitors the beauty of its stalactites and stalagmites.
Maharani Zoo and Cave complex was inaugurated by Lamongan Regent Masfuk. Both tourist attractions are among the local government’s mainstays in boosting revenue from the tourism sector.
