West Papua Launches 'Pit The Conductor' as 2025 Pesparawi's Mascot

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Papua Provincial Government officially launched "Pit The Conductor" as the mascot of the 14th National Ecclesiastical Choir Party (Pesparawi) in 2025.
West Papua Regional Secretary Yacob Fonataba, on Monday, officially launched the Pesparawi mascot, with the Religious Ministry's Director General of Christian Community Guidance, Jeane Marie Tulung, also present on the occasion.
The province's Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) and District Head of Manokwari, Hermus Indou, also attended the mascot launch event.
"Pit The Conductor is a cassowary chick named Pit who is symbolized as a conductor with (musical) notations surrounding it," Fonataba elaborated.
He said, the mascot launch indicates that the West Papua Provincial Government is ready to hold the 15th Pesparawi.
The West Papua Regional Pesparawi Development Agency (LPPD) has carried out several preparations for next year's event.
Fonataba explained that Pesparawi is held for Christians' mental, spiritual, and ethical development in addition to serving as a platform for the realization of faith in living a religious life.
The government is committed to encouraging every activity that develops the community's spirituality and creativity.
"The government is responsible for the moral and religious values of the community so as to create safe, peaceful, developed, and prosperous regional conditions," he remarked.
He highlighted that several locations prepared for the 2025 National Pesparawi comprised the West Papua PKK Building, the West Papua Dharma Wanita building, the West Papua Regional Police building, the Papua University hall, and the Petrus Amban Church.
Manokwari District Head Hermus Indou stated that Manokwari, as the capital of West Papua Province, is ready to support the 14th Pesparawi event.
According to Indou, the event will be able to accelerate development in Manokwari, which is nicknamed the City of Gospel.
