TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bekasi police asked the people to stay alert of counterfeit money distribution in light of Presidential Election and Eid al-Fitr. The suggestion came after a housewife was arrested in Bekasi for shopping using counterfeit money.
East Bekasi Chief of Police Commissioner Suyud said that the police found Rp 4.8 million in her house. The suspect claimed that she received the counterfeit money from her colleague in Bogor, purchasing 5 million over Rp500,000.
Bekasi City Chief of Police Senior Commissioner Priyo Widyanto suggested that there will likely be a massive distribution of counterfeit money in light of Presidential Election and Eid al-Fitr, all of which come on July. Priyo said that suspects usually pull the action during busy hours, causing the victims be unaware of the counterfeit money.
