TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The existence of dozens container truck pools in North Jakarta residential area is considered no longer feasible. Besides often triggering accident and causing traffic jam, the truck is often damaging the road. In order to overcome to matter, the container truck pool zone discourse raises up once again, as cited in Antara News.
North Jakarta Head of Sub-dept. of Spatial Planning, Syukria, explained many of container truck pool locations are inappropriate with its design. In fact, his agency has no legal basis to order the pools. "The sub-dept. of Building Supervision has difficulty because the pools have no building, it's only an empty land," he stated.
His agency is still waiting for the ratification of spatial planning bylaw. The bylaw will be strictly managing the misappropriation of land usage. It also manages the sentences for society who abuses spatial planning, and also the official who gives the recommendation.
"Jalan Plumpang Raya and Tugu is intended for residential and commercial area, not for truck pool. It could violate the law of the areas if it is used as truck pool," he added.
North Jakarta Mayor Heru Budi Hartono, stated that the truck pool zoning plan in North Jakarta had been formed in 1999 and 2000, but the implementation is postponed. "The special zone should be built near the port," he stated.
According to Heru, the zoning should involve government and port. Newest information revealed that PT Pelindo II was asked to construct warehouse and garage for container trucks right after the port construction in Kali Baru is finished.
