TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Political analyst Ikrar Busa Bakti said the statement from Great Indonesia Movement Party’s (Gerindra) presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto in his campaigns were uneducative to the public. The former Indonesian Science Institution’s head of Political Research Center claimed that Prabowo had attacked his political rivals personally.
“Attacking political rivals is allowed, but not personally. It’s uneducative,” Ikrar told Tempo on Monday, March 24, 2014.
In his campaigns, Prabowo had lambasted his political rivals for being indecisive, liars, thieves and puppet presidents. According to Ikrar, Prabowo shouldn’t have been so self-righteous and called others liars. “If I said that you were a kidnapper and murderer, how would you feel?” he said.
Ikrar said Indonesian politicians should learn from Barack Obama when he run for president against Hillary Clinton. Despite their fierce rivalry, Obama had referained from using Bill Clinton’s sex scandal to his advantage in his campaigns against Hillary Clinton.
“They focused on attacking each other’s policies. Indonesian politicians should do the same,” he added.
