TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is confident that his party, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) will dominate the vote in Sumatra on the legislative election.
"Let's see on April 9, 2014," said the president candidate before leaving for his campaign in Bandar Lampung, today.
According the still-active Governor of Jakarta, Sumatra has yet to be a voter base for PDI-P and, to conquer the island; he will penetrate into populated regions with potentials.
"We are going to transmigrated locations, meeting people in the traditional market, and also to Tulang Bawang and South Lampung regions," continued Jokowi who also brought along the Central Java Governor, Ganjar Pranowo and the Lampung Governor Sjahrudin in his campaign today. Jokowi is also confident that the number of votes from Sumatra will exceed the party's national target.
According to the deputy chairman of PDI-P election team Bambang Wuryanto, Jokowi is planning to visit West Sumatra, South Sumatra, South East Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Riau, Maluku, Lampung, and Aceh.
