TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After hacking Twitter accounts and several employees’ emails, the Syrian Electronic Army continued its round of digital shenanigans. Tech Crunch website wrote that the pro-Assad hackers compromised Microsoft’s offical blog.
The blog containing information on Microsoft’s latest products suddenly displayed the Syrian flag, created from internet codes. The blog then displayed the message “Hacked by The Syrian Electronic Army” on the homepage.
After successfully hacking the blog, the hackers then wrote about their victory on their Twitter account, @Official_SEA16. “Dear @Microsoft, Changing the CMS will not help you if your employees are hacked and they don’t know about that. #SEA.”
Microsoft was asked for confirmation about the hacking. It reportedly will conduct a re-checking on its software security system.
“For now, Microsoft needs to clean house: This sort of excursion is embarrassing for a company that sells security products,” tech blogger Brad Sams said.
