TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama endorsed the society to perform a test on HIV/AIDS, provided that the number of infection in the Capital remains high. Jakarta AIDS Management Commission noted 24,807 HIV cases and 6,973 AIDS cases this year, with the majority of productive age between 25 to 44 years old.
"The society should regularly check for HIS/AIDS. They can use Jakarta Health Card (KJS), allowing them to get the test for free," said Ahok. Not only medical check-up, Ahok ensured that HIV/AIDS positives can also take free medication using KJS. "Therefore, we can help supress the number," the deputy governor said.
He stated that checking for HIV/AIDS can help prevent its outbreak. He added that condom campaign should not be a debatable motion, saying that medium low community often think of condom as an expensive goods.
