TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The ASEAN Experts Group on Competition (AEGC) launched the AEGC Website (www.aseancompetition.org) at its 12th Meeting on November 12-13 in Cebu, Philippines, according to a release Tempo received on Thursday.
Apart from being a platform for the AEGC members to interact and share information, the website serves to support advocacy efforts as a whole in disseminating information on the benefits of competition policy and law and competition-related developments in ASEAN to the public, including information on cases and rulings within ASEAN Member States.
The Working Group on Regional Competition Advocacy, which led the successful development of the website and is chaired by Singapore, also developed a set of advocacy collaterals (pamphlet and brochure) to educate the public on key principles of competition policy and law in the ASEAN region.
The development of website and advocacy collaterals is the first of the two-phased project to increase advocacy efforts on competition policy and law in the region, and supported under ASEAN-GIZ Project on Competition Policy and Law.
The second phase will involve developing tools for customized advocacy strategies and collecting case studies on advocacy programs within ASEAN Member States. The Regional Competition Advocacy project is one of the initiatives under the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Blueprint that is defined in the AEGC medium-term work plan and AEGC key deliverables for 2015.
