TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo and Deputy Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama, have been advised to involve the public in running the Capital City.
"Even though people's trust is still very high, Jokowi-Ahok have not given enough space for the citizens to control bureaucracy," Suryatmo, Chairman of the Indonesian Consumers Foundation, said on Tuesday, October 15, 2013.
According to Sudaryatmo, the public's trust towards Jokowi-Ahok is still in range of 60 to 70 percent. Jokowi has been deemed as an expert in communicating with the public. "But not necessarily an expert in other aspects," he said.
Suryatmo gave an example on wild parking. It's impossible for Jokowi to assign every Department of Transportation officers on the street. "Public support must be maximized, they are the one who control the bureaucracy," he said.
