TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia is set to hold the Art Summit Indonesia 2013 from October 8 to 25. The theme for this contemporary art festival this year is ‘Contemporary Art and the Making of Its Market.’
This Art Summit is not only an art festival consisting of performances and exhibitions, yet also a way to market performance art in Indonesia and educate the public on the added value of art.
Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Mari Elka Pangestu said this event is aimed at creating a market for contemporary art performances. Indonesians are extremely creative and must be supported and appreciated by increasing their value, she said.
Art Summit Indonesia 2013 will be held in four different locations, which are Bali, Jakarta, Yogykarta and Solo and universities will serve as the hosts for the events.
The opening of Art Summit Indonesia 2013 at ISI Denpasar in Bali on October 8 will be a day after the APEC Summit 2013 in Bali ends. Minister Mari hopes APEC delegations who are still in Bali will be able to attend Art Summit Indonesia and appreciate the artwork created by the nation’s artists.
