Growing Request to Run for President, Jokowi Says He'll Wait

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo begins to respond more seriously over the growing request for him to run in the 2014 presidential election. In the national work meeting of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) on Sunday, the majority of PDI-P's Regional Representative Council (DPD) asked the man to run as a candidate from their party.
Jokowi is usually evasive when asked about his possible candidacy; answering reporters' question with either a joke or saying he still want to focus on Jakarta. But on Sunday morning, Sept. 8, Jokowi answered that he is "waiting for the DPD's recommendation," when asked him about whether or not he would run for president next year.
The recommendation will be decided in the party's national work meeting that takes place in Ancol, North Jakarta. This recommendation, Jokowi said, will be discussed first before being summed up in the party's decision.
