TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police's Information Center chief, Brig. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar said that Imam Syafei is responsible in assembling the bomb planned to detonate at the Myanmar Embassy in Jakarta. Imam is a young recruit in the Sigit Indrajit terrorist group. "He is a suspect and he had been taken to Jakarta for questioning," said Boy at the Police Headquarters on Sunday, August 18.
Imam was arrested by the Special Detachment 88 anti-terror unit on August 17 at 9:35 pm. He was apprehended on Kemranjen Highway, Central Java.
Imam is a junior high school graduate. In the Sigit Indrajit group, he and Sigit, Rohadi, Ovie, and Syaiful joined a military training at Mount Salak, West Java in January 2013.
Imam was trained by Sepriano a.k.a Mambo, specifically taught how to prepare and assemble bombs. Under the coordination and leadership of Rohadi, Imam is also listed as a member that actively collected money to be used to fund terrorist acts.
