TEMPO.CO, Burgos – Archaeologists in Mexico recently discovered 4,926 well-preserved cave paintings in North-East of Burgos.
Human, bugs, and various animal paintings appear in red, yellow, black and white colors, also some sky and abstract paintings.
The paintings were discovered in 11 different archeological sites, one of which contains 1,550 images. "The caves were never predicted to be inhabited by ancient culture," said Gustavo Ramirez, an archaeologist from Mexican National Institute of Anthropology and History.
According to Ramirez, the paintings are important because it records the presence of pre-Hispanic society in areas previously known to be inhabited.
