TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - Yogyakarta is set to test drive its national electric bus on May 20. This trial is due to a collaboration between the city administration and the Research and Technology Ministry.
"It (the electric bus) will be free of charge during this three month trial," said Yogyakarta Mayor Haryadi Suyuti on Wednesday, May 8.
This electric bus stems from research from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences. The 15-passenger bus uses a lithium 100 cell battery that produces DC 320 volts of electricity for power. This charge will enable the bus to run at a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
