Jokowi in Tasikmalaya to Inaugurate Leuwikeris, Most Expensive Dam of His Presidency

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo, or Jokowi, inaugurated the Leuwikeris Dam in Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java. This is the most expensive dam infrastructure built during Jokowi's presidency, costing Rp3.5 trillion.
During his time in office, Jokowi has built 44 dams.
"This dam is one that cost the most to build. Rp 3.5 trillion. Usually, it's around 800 billion, 1 trillion or 1.5 trillion," Jokowi said at the inauguration ceremony, which was broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat on Thursday, August 29.
The Leuwikeris Dam has a reservoir of 243 hectares with a very large capacity of 81 million cubic meters of water.
According to the President, the Leuwikeris Dam can irrigate an area of 11,200 hectares, "which will be very beneficial for farmers".
During his visit to West Java today, Jokowi will also inaugurate the replacement of the Callender Hamilton (CH) Bridge, the Ciloseh Bridge, and the implementation of the Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads (IJD).
"The inauguration will be centered at the Citanduy Bridge, Banjar City," Presidential Secretariat deputy for protocol, press and media Yusuf Permana said in a written statement, Thursday.
From Tasikmalaya, President Jokowi is scheduled to fly to Bandung City using an RJ-85 aircraft from Wiriadinata Airport. In Bandung, Jokowi will launch the Maternal and Child Health Service Building at Hasan Sadikin Hospital Bandung before returning to Jakarta.
