TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has highlighted the similarity between the Golden Indonesia Vision 2045 and African Development Agenda 2063, which is strengthening cooperation between Indonesia and Africa, particularly ahead of the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF).

Director of African affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dewi Justicia Meidiawaty said that the shared vision has boosted the determination of both parties to collaborate in building a more inclusive and just future.

"Both visions have in common, a focus on human development, with an emphasis on education, health, and the empowerment of women and youth," she highlighted, according to a written statement received on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

She said that the Golden Indonesia Vision 2045 is a long-term plan that aims to make Indonesia a developed country by the centenary of its independence and a global power that actively preserves world peace.

The vision focuses on four main pillars—human resource development, sustainable economic growth, strong governance, and equitable development, she expounded.

Meanwhile, the African Development Agenda 2063 is a strategic road map designed by the African Union to transform the continent into an independent, sovereign, and globally competitive region.

According to Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Wamkele Mene, Agenda 2063 aims to lay the foundation for optimizing Africa's potential by encouraging trade between countries and creating market integration on the continent.

"Agenda 2063 is the key to transforming Africa into a global economic power by 2063," he said.

Through the synergy of the two great visions, the 2nd IAF will not only discuss the progress of each party, but also efforts to strengthen cooperation for the progress of the world, he added.

Indonesia and Africa have a rich historical heritage of the struggle against colonialism, especially through the 1955 Asia-Africa Conference, which united the then newly independent countries of Asia and Africa.

"As the country with the largest economic power in Southeast Asia and Africa, as a continent with extraordinary economic growth potential, this collaboration will not only benefit the people of Indonesia and Africa, but also be a catalyst for broader global change," Mene said.
