TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Secretary of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE), Said Didu, said that the former Minister of State for Utilization of SOE, Tanri Abeng, died on early Sunday morning at 02:36 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) at 82 years old.
"Died last night at around two o'clock, at Medistra Hospital," said Said when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta, Sunday, June 23, 2024.
Said said the body would be buried at the funeral home in the Simprug Golf area, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta on Sunday.
Tanri Abeng was born in Selayar on March 7, 1942. He was the Minister of State for the Utilization of SOE in 1998 who was appointed by the 2nd President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soeharto. This man from Sulawesi then continued his position as Minister of State for the Empowerment of SOE in the era of President BJ Habibie.
After becoming minister, Tanri took many roles as a commissioner in state-owned companies, such as being President Commissioner of PT Telkom Indonesia, President Commissioner of PT Pertamina Persero, and President Commissioner of PT Bio Farma. In 2011, Tanri founded Tanri Abeng University in South Jakarta.
