Bali Police Arrest British National for Seizing Truck, Hitting Driver

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - North Kuta Police arrested a foreign national from the UK, Damon Anthony Alexander Hills (50), who seized a local’s truck loaded with grain and took it to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali.
Badung Police Chief Pol. Grand Commissioner Adjutant Teguh Priyo Wasono said the foreigner was arrested on Sunday evening, June 9, 2024, at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. The foreigner was arrested along with evidence of a yellow truck with police number AB 8084 BC.
"The perpetrator has been detained at the North Kuta Police to be held accountable for his actions," said Teguh in Badung, Monday, June 10, 2024, as reported by Antara.
The British foreigner kicked and hit the truck driver who was asleep in the truck causing the victim, Rahmawan Andrianto (24), to fall. The incident occurred on Sunday evening in front of the Timbul Mora Ceramic Shop on Kerobokan Road, North Kuta District, Badung. At around 10 p.m. local time, the victim woke up and found Hills already in the truck and started the engine. The victim tried to fight back but was beaten and kicked out of the truck.
The victim climbed back into the truck to take over the wheel, but the foreigner continued to kick the victim. When the truck started moving, it hit several motorbikes in front of it, and the victim jumped out of the vehicle.
Hills drove the truck at full speed from the Lapas Kerobokan intersection towards the Ngurah Rai Bypass Road and the Benoa toll gate. He crashed into a toll portal and was chased by Bali Mandara Toll Road Service Officers. Several motorbike riders also chased the British man.
The chase for Hills continued until I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, where he hit the entrance portal and several other facilities.
Arriving at the airport, the foreigner ran towards the departure terminal but was arrested by airport security officers and the police. A viral video showed the foreigner beaten by several motorbike drivers who were chasing him.
Head of Public Relations of the Badung Police, Second Police Inspector Putu Sukarma, said the foreigner was probed at the North Kuta Police but his motive was still unknown. “(His motive) is unknown at the moment considering the perpetrator was still dazed,” he said.
