The head of public relations for the Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indriadi, confirmed the arrests, which took place on June 15, 2024, at 11:30 PM.
“Officers from the Metro Jaya Police's Vehicle Crime Subdirectorate successfully detained three suspects on June 15, 2024. The suspects have been identified as M, a private employee from Cirebon; YA, a freelance laborer from Sukabumi; and FF, a private employee from Surabaya. They were arrested at a public accounting office in Srengseng, Kembangan District, West Jakarta.
During the arrest, police confiscated evidence including counterfeit money totaling IDR 22 billion in denominations of IDR 100,000. Additionally, police seized several tools used in the operation, including a money counter, a money cutter, a GTO printing machine, and various colored printing inks.
Ade expressed relief that the counterfeit money was intercepted before it could circulate among the public. He urged citizens to examine their money carefully, following Bank Indonesia’s guidelines to look, feel, and examine the currency.
“Thanks to the swift actions of the Ditreskrimum team, the distribution of this counterfeit money was thwarted,” Ade stated, advising the public to remain vigilant.
The suspects are charged under Articles 244 and 245 of the Indonesian Criminal Code, which carry a maximum penalty of 12 years imprisonment. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
