TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hadi Tjahjanto, Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security of Indonesia, met with Sarbini Abdul Murad, chairman of the Medical Emergency Rescue-Committee (MER-C Indonesia) on Tuesday, June 11. During the meeting, Hadi expressed his support for the humanitarian organization.
MER-C, a voluntary group that funded the Indonesian hospital in Gaza, has sent volunteers to work in the Strip. The presence of MER-C Indonesia in Gaza is to provide medical assistance and treatment to Palestinians who have become victims of Israel's aggression against Hamas.
In a separate statement, Sarbini explained his plans to renovate the Indonesia Hospital in the Gaza Strip, Palestine. The Indonesian Hospital was reportedly severely damaged by Israeli attacks after a permanent ceasefire was reached.
Sarbini said that the plan to renovate the Indonesia Hospital needs the help and support of the government. "Especially during the process of entering Gaza through Rafah, Egypt," he said.
Minister Hadi expressed his willingness. "We are ready to provide you with any help during the renovation process," he said, expressing his hope for good relations between the government and other humanitarian organizations in order to "facilitate efforts to help our overseas brothers and sisters in need".
