TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - La Maison De L'Indonésie, an Indonesian-owned store, has been awarded the Best Fine Grocery Store 2024 in France in the Judge's Favorite category.

The award, as quoted from an official statement received in Jakarta on Saturday, was given by the Gourmet Selection Exhibition, which is part of the SIAL expo, the largest global exhibition network dedicated to food and beverages.

"The selection of La Maison De L'Indonésie as the best Fine Grocery Store in France is a commitment, dedication, and result of 2 years of hard work to promote Indonesia concretely and consistently through the creative economy," said the owner and founder of La Maison De L'Indonésie, Eka Moncarre.

Eka explained that the determination of La Maison De L'Indonésie as the winner of the jury's favorite category was based on the original concept, quality products sold with a sustainable concept, unique decoration that invites people to explore Indonesia, and activities to promote products, gastronomy, and culture.

On May 28, the Gourmet Selection jury team met to evaluate the 54 companies from all over France that had been shortlisted. All participants were then narrowed down to 15 finalists, and finally, the 15 best were selected to compete for the 5 main winners, namely Gold, Silver, Bronze, and the jury's 2 favorites.

The awards ceremony will take place on September 16, 2024, at the Salon Gourmet Selection exhibition at the Porte de Versailles in Paris.

"This is a pride for Indonesia and the first step to bring Indonesian products to a higher level. And this award will further motivate us to always try our best to represent Indonesia in France," said Eka.

Eka also said that La Maison de l'Indonesia has a unique concept because it is a café/restaurant/fine grocery shop/workshop/gallery and exhibition. The aim is to introduce the best products from Indonesia to France while promoting Indonesian cultural and gastronomic tourism.

La Maison De L'Indonesie, which means Indonesian House, is a place for everyone who wants to get to know Indonesia and provide an immersive experience and also get 100 percent quality goods made in Indonesia such as chocolate, tea, herbal medicine, spices, and also Indonesian specialty coffee roasted in France by La Maison De L'Indonesie.
