Bali Immigration Deports Canadian National Who Set Up Fictitious Company

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bali Immigration Office through the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) deported a foreign national from Canada who established a fictitious company in Bali, Indonesia. “We have to enforce immigration law,” said Denpasar Immigration Detention Center Head Gede Dudy Duwita in Denpasar, Saturday, September 7, 2024.

From the results of the examination, the foreigner with the initials 'JGC', 53 years old, is known to have first entered Indonesia in October 2020 using a tourist visa. In February 2021, he and five colleagues founded the company PT BKG. He acted as an investor.

JGC then changed his residence permit status to an investor's limited stay permit (ITAS) which had been extended twice. The company is engaged in various sectors, including consulting, graphic design, retail, and photography. However, from the results of monitoring by the Ngurah Rai Immigration, PT BKG was not found at the registered address, even though JGC said the address was legal and registered in the company documents.

During JGC's stay in Indonesia, JGC was recorded as living in a rented villa on Jalan Mertanadi, Bali, with JGC's lover 'IA'. However, in March 2024, JGC moved to a new address without reporting the change of address to immigration authorities.  

During field surveillance, JGC was uncooperative. He even resisted and obstructed the detention of travel documents. He also refused to sign the Minutes of Inspection on July 31, 2024.

Immigration officers then questioned the foreigner's guarantor, FADA, who stated that JGC's company did not fulfill tax obligations. JGC was further backed into a corner after Immigration officers questioned the lover with the initials IA who said the foreigner was also marketing the villa. 

Denpasar Immigration Detention Center Head, Gede Dudy Duwita, revealed that PT BKG was considered a fictitious company and JGC had provided false information regarding his residence permit. “JGC also does not respect the applicable laws and regulations and is not cooperative with the immigration supervision and inspection process,” he said.

Therefore, he was given immigration administrative action in the form of revocation of his limited stay permit and deportation to Toronto, Canada.
