Speaking at a joint working meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission I in Jakarta, as reported by Antara on June 6, Agus outlined five benefits of sending peacekeepers.
- International recognition
Agus said sending troops would bring international recognition for the peacekeepers' contribution and could improve Indonesia's reputation and standing in the international community. "The presence of the TNI is a manifestation of strengthening diplomacy in accordance with the excellent vision of the TNI as stated in the key policy points of the TNI Commander in 2024," the commander said.
- Training and experience
According to Agus, participation in peacekeeping forces can provide valuable training and experience for TNI troops, which can help improve military capabilities.
- Access to equipment and resources
Agus said Indonesian troops can gain access to equipment and resources that may not be available to a country, such as transportation, communications equipment, and medical supplies.
- More efficient deployment of troops through cost-sharing with partner countries.
- Contribute to peace and security.
Agus said the main benefit of participating in a peacekeeping force is its contribution to peace and security by helping to maintain stability in conflict zones. "Peacekeepers can help prevent the spread of violence and promote peace and security," he said.
