1. Indonesia to Reassess Visa on Arrival Policy After Reports of Disruptive Foreigners
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights is currently reassessing the visa-on-arrival policy after reports of foreigners causing a ruckus in Indonesia.
"We are currently evaluating the visa on arrival of the problematic foreigners’ countries of origin," Director General of Immigration, Silmy Karim, told Tempo in a brief text, quoted on Thursday, June 6, 2024.
2. Indonesia's Ornamental Fish Export Second Highest After Japan
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia is the second-largest exporter of ornamental fish in the world after Japan, said Budi Sulistyo, Director General of Marine Fishery Products Competitiveness at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.
Budi believed that the country could become the world’s top exporter of such decoration fish. “This won’t only boost the potential for foreign exchange but also create and generate business opportunities because most of the fish business players are MSMEs,” he said at the ministry’s media center in Jakarta, on Thursday, June 6.
3. Crop Failure May Lead Russia To Narrow Its Grain Exports, Including to Indonesia
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Russia may narrow the spread of its grain exports in the new season due to crop problems, keeping supplies to its traditional markets, VTB member Vitaly Sergechuk said.
Frosts have damaged crops in many regions this year, and there has also been a drought in some areas, leading analysts to downgrade forecasts for this year's harvest.
"It (exports) will probably not be as widespread as in the current season," he said, speaking during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
