TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency or BMKG said there is no rain potential for the entire island of Java today, Friday, May 31, 2024.
Several regions will potentially rain today, including North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Bengkulu, Jambi, and Bangka Belitung. West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and East Kalimantan are also expected to rain.
Other regions forecasted to rain are Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, North Maluku, Maluku, Papua, and West Papua. None of the regions in the south of Indonesia have the potential for heavy rain today.
According to BMKG, today's weather is influenced by areas of convergence that extend from West Sumatra to the Malacca Strait and from Lampung to Bengkulu, South Kalimantan to West Kalimantan, from the Maluku Sea to West Sulawesi, as well as the Banda Sea and from Papua Pegunungan to West Papua.
Meanwhile, areas of confluence are observed in the South China Sea. "This condition also increases the potential for the growth of rain clouds along the convergence/confluence area," said the BMKG weather early warning update on Thursday afternoon.
Strong local lability that influences convective processes on a local scale is found in Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Bengkulu, and the Bangka Belitung Islands.
The same thing is expected in West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, NTT, North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, Southwest Papua, West Papua, Central Papua, Papua, and Papua Pegunungan.
