Avenged Sevenfold Concert in Jakarta Guarded by 710 Officers

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Avenged Sevenfold concert took place tonight at the Madya Gelora Bung Karno Stadium or GBK. Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Police Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro said that 710 joint personnel were deployed to the venue to guard the concert.

"The joint personnel is from the TNI (military), National Police, and Jakarta officials," Susatyo said in a written statement on Saturday. May 25, 2024.

He said the personnel were stationed at several points around the GBK Madya Stadium area, from the entrance to the concert venue. Susatyo confirmed that the police had anticipated crimes during the concert.

The Central Jakarta Police appealed to concert-goers to remain cautious and protect their belongings from being stolen. "Concert-goers are also advised to remain vigilant against fake tickets and not to be tempted by suspicious people," Susatyo said.

Authorities will also reroute traffic around the GBK areas based on road conditions. In case of overcrowding, the officers will direct the traffic.

The Avenged Sevenfold concert begins at 7 p.m. and ends at 10:30 p.m. Susatyo asks the audience not to bring sharp weapons, alcoholic drinks, and flares. 

Susatyo guaranteed that security would be humane and that no one would be carrying firearms. "All orders and controls come from me as the security chief of the object area. There are no additional movements or actions of a personal nature," he said.
