TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi appreciated the Indonesia - Japan cooperation agreement in the HI Roundabout - Kota MRT project. This Rp4.2 trillion has boosted relations between Indonesia and Japan regarding mass transportation infrastructure development. According to him, Indonesia and Japan demonstrated their consistency in knowledge transfer through this project.
"Indonesia and Japan are making consistent and continuous movements, which shows that good relations between both countries are always ongoing," said Budi in a written statement on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.
The 205 contract package project (HI Roundabout - Kota MRT) is part of the MRT Jakarta phase 2A development project. Thus far, Phase 2A construction progress has reached 33.36 percent, including CP201 Thamrin - Monas at 74.02 percent, CP202 Harmoni - Mangga Besar at 28.34 percent, and CP203 Glodok - Kota at 49.97 percent.
This development includes the main substation, power distribution system, overhead electricity, signaling, telecommunications, supervisory control, data acquisition, rails, and platform edge doors.
Budi Karya said that this project could expand the reach of MRT and improve city connectivity. The minister hopes that traffic jams and pollution issues in Jakarta can be resolved by extending this MRT line.
"This is a path to positive changes for residents of Jakarta and its surroundings by providing more comfortable, safe, and efficient transportation alternatives," he said.
For this reason, Budi invites people to use public transportation such as the MRT for daily mobility. "The use of mass transportation in Jakarta is not yet optimal. So I invite you to use public transport," he concluded.
