TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - During holiday seasons just like now, online scammers are becoming more active. One of the scams that often occur is when purchasing travel tickets or hotel reservations. Many individuals take advantage of this moment to commit online fraud.
Kaspersky shares a number of tips to avoid online scams to ensure a safer and more comfortable journey during the holiday season. First, when buying travel tickets and booking hotels and apartments, only use websites with a good reputation. If possible, buy tickets directly from the relevant travel or airline's website, it may be slightly more expensive but always safer.
Also, do not be fooled by promises of gifts or unbelievably low prices. Always be suspicious to avoid falling into online scam traps. Moreover, carefully check the address of the website you are visiting. Double-check the URL of the page before entering any important information there, such as usernames and passwords, payment card numbers, and more.
Avoid uploading data carelessly
Never share reservation numbers with anyone, or upload photos of tickets with specific codes on social media. A few days before the departure date, check all reservations made for the trip. If there are any issues with the reservation, it's better to resolve them beforehand, not at the airport check-in counter, hotel reception, or elsewhere.
Finally, use reliable antivirus software with built-in protection against online scams and phishing on all devices, such as Kaspersky Premium. This will provide early warnings about sites to avoid.
