TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) Soerjanto Tjahjono said that one factor in the multi-vehicle accident that reportedly claimed 12 lives earlier this week was that the driver of the unofficial travel vehicle had worked over their time limit.
A tragic accident occurred at KM 58 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road involving a Primajasa Bus, a Grand Max, and a Daihatsu Terios last Monday, April 8. The Grand Max car entered the opposite lane and caught fire after being hit by the bus.
The Terios was also involved in this accident. Currently, the police are still identifying the victims. Coordinating Minister for PMK Muhadjir Effendy has reviewed the victim identification process at Karawang Regional Hospital.
"One of the causes of the traffic accident that killed 12 passengers was the driver of an unofficial travel vehicle, working overtime," Soerjanto said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday, April 11, 2024, as quoted from Antara.
