TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director of Public Governance at OECD, Elsa Pilichowski, responded to the presentation made by the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini regarding disaster management in Indonesia. According to Elsa, Indonesia is one of the countries that can be emulated and studied in terms of disaster management efforts.

"There are many lessons to be learned from Indonesia's experience, which is very detailed and capable of addressing complex disaster issues as an archipelagic nation," said Elsa, quoted from the Ministry of Social Affairs press release on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

Risma served as the opening speaker on the second day of the Infrastructure Forum of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, France on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. She discussed the Indonesian government's experience in handling disasters.

According to Elsa, OECD member countries must learn together to face future challenges. Therefore, she emphasized that OECD member countries should learn from each other.

Elsa assessed that OECD could learn from Indonesia, especially regarding the efforts of the Ministry of Social Affairs in providing trauma recovery or trauma healing. This step involves various parties, ranging from universities, community figures, traditional figures, to religious figures.

OECD also appreciates the efforts of the Indonesian government in empowering the economics of disaster victims, as well as the establishment of a digital Command Center. Through integration with the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Risma said the Command Center was able to mobilize the resources of the Ministry of Social Affairs.

These resources include giving instructions to directorates in the Ministry of Social Affairs and 37 technical implementation units or UPT centers and major offices, down to Tagana (Disaster Response Team Volunteers) and Social Facilitators. Additionally, the Command Center enables personnel to provide reports within about 10 minutes.
