PLN Confirms Availability of Electricity During Eid Al Fitr

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT PLN (Persero) President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, inspected the condition of the transmission and distribution network at the Extra High Voltage Main Substation (GITET) 500 kilovolt (kV) Pedan in Klaten, Central Java, last Saturday, April 6, 2024. The inspection was carried out to ensure electricity supply, particularly in the Java-Madura-Bali region, during the Eid al-Fitr festivities.
"We want to ensure that the electricity supply is safe and reliable in facing Eid al-Fitr," said Darmawan in his written statement on Monday, April 8, 2024.
Darmawan explained that the transmission and distribution network is a vital aspect in regulating the distribution of electricity loads to residential areas and as the main control of electric currents. He conveyed that electricity flow is connected from Paiton, Probolinggo, then to Pedan, Klaten, before finally reaching Jakarta.
He stated that PLN has also deployed 81,591 personnel spread across 2,766 posts throughout Indonesia. "We want all Indonesian citizens to enjoy Eid al-Fitr in a joyful atmosphere," Darmawan said.
Furthermore, he revealed that PLN has conducted various inspections and maintenance of the its electricity transmission system, such as conducting comprehensive inspections, cleaning the area around the power network to prevent disruptions, and routine patrols to ensure the condition of the power network for the past two months.
Furthermore, Darmawan explained that PLN also uses special equipment such as long-range cameras to detect damage to equipment at Main Substations. Additionally, PLN has also regularly maintained transformers and substations.
According to Darmawan, Main Substations play a crucial role in connecting and distributing electricity from one power plant to another until it reaches the community. "Main Substations connect the flow from the north to the south and to remote areas," he said.
He mentioned that PLN strengthens the electrical installations by preparing 1,731 generators, 735 Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units, 1,206 Mobile Substation Units (UGB), 188 Mobile Cable Units (UKB)/Mobile Cable and Cubicle Units (UKKB), 19 mobile transformers, 33 standby ERS, 395 cranes, 3,756 cars, and 3,318 operational motorcycles.
