TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Germany is one of the countries in Europe which is a popular destination among international students who want to gain access through overseas scholarships. Even so, studying in Germany and other countries in Europe is not easy, especially in terms of costs.

1. IGSP (Indonesia-German Scholarship Program)
This scholarship program is a collaboration between the Indonesian and German governments. IGSP is intended for permanent lecturers at Indonesian universities within the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. For your information only, this scholarship is only available for doctoral level education in Germany. The maximum age to apply for this scholarship is 50 years and you must have a minimum IBT score of 80 or IELTS of at least 6.0.
Applicants who pass the interview selection will take part in German language training at the Goethe Institut Jakarta for approximately 3 months.
2. Erasmus + (Erasmus Mundus)
Erasmus+ is a scholarship program whose previous program was Erasmus Mundus. This scholarship is funded by the European Commission to subsidize the costs of education, training, youth and sports programs. Erasmus+ is offered to around 160 countries outside the European Union to study in European Union countries including Germany. Overall this scholarship covers tuition fees, travel costs, monthly allowance, accommodation costs etc.
3. LPDP
This scholarship is provided by the Indonesian government for Indonesian citizens who wish to study Masters and Doctoral degrees at home and abroad. Overall, this scholarship covers living costs and tuition fees for scholarship recipients. However, before carrying out the study, you must take leadership training and debriefing first.
In addition, almost all fields of study are prioritized in this scholarship. So the opportunity to get an LPDP scholarship is open to anyone. But you need to remember, the interest in this scholarship is very large, you know. So competition to get an LPDP scholarship is also very tight despite the fact that there is no quota limit for this scholarship.
Scholarships from Universities and Non-Government
Apart from the three scholarships above, you can also apply for scholarships provided by universities and non-government organizations as follows:
1. Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES)
This scholarship is given to students who are already in Germany. FES itself is an organization that is closely related to the German Social Democratic Party SPD. Especially for this FES scholarship, German language skills are one of the main requirements.
2. Friedrich Naumann Stiftung (FNS)
This FNS scholarship is associated with the FDP Liberal Party and is intended for international students enrolled in a master's program (S2) in Germany. The aid provided reaches 850 euros per month with a minimum duration of two semesters and a maximum of one year, but scholarship recipients may apply again for the following year (if necessary). Application deadlines are April 30 and October 31 each year.
3. Heinrich Boll Stiftung
This scholarship is related to the Green Party in Germany. Every year this scholarship, funded by the Heinrich Boll Foundation, is opened in two waves of registration, namely early March and September.
