VP Ma'ruf Amin to Open Banten Ramadan Halal Festival in Tangerang Tomorrow

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin is scheduled to inaugurate the Banten Ramadan Halal Festival at Syariah Tower, Pantai Indah Kapuk 2, Tangerang district, Banten, on Tuesday (April 2, 2024).
In an official statement received here on Monday, spokesperson to the vice president, Masduki Baidlowi, informed that the halal festival, entitled "From Banten for the World," is a part of the National Halal Fair that is running in 13 provinces during this year's fasting month.
He said that the festival is expected to raise Indonesian people's awareness about literacy and inclusive Islamic economy and finance.
"This event will be held under the coordination of the KNEKS (National Committee of Islamic Economy and Finance), chaired by the vice president," he added.
In addition to Banten, the National Halal Fair is being held in a number of provinces across Indonesia, namely Jakarta, Central Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Riau, Riau Islands, South Kalimantan, Jambi, Aceh, North Kalimantan, and Central Java.
As the leader of the KNEKS, Vice President Amin recently inaugurated several regional committees of Islamic economy and finance (KDEKS).
He inaugurated the KDEKS of Southeast Sulawesi in Kendari city on March 21 and another committee in Pontianak city, West Kalimantan, on March 27.
During the inauguration of the KDEKS of Southeast Sulawesi, the Vice President emphasized that regional committees are instrumental in accelerating the development of a suitable ecosystem for the country's Islamic economy and finance.
"A KDEKS is of the essence to create a sharia economic ecosystem in the motherland. Regional committees will stimulate the Islamic economy in regions. Without a regional committee, the sharia economy will not run optimally," he stated.
Meanwhile, in West Kalimantan, he highlighted the need for taking into account the province's local wisdom and potential in developing Islamic economy and finance.
"Islamic economy and finance should be developed in tandem with optimizing the potential and natural resources of West Kalimantan, such as palm oil, rubber, coconut, and bauxite," he added.
