Indonesia Explores 2036 Olympic Bid

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Olympic Committee of Indonesia (NOC Indonesia) continues to explore opportunities for Indonesia to host the Olympics, with a target year of 2036, said its chairperson Raja Sapta Oktohari on Saturday, March 30, 2024.
"We are continuing our efforts to make Indonesia a future Olympic host, likely in 2036," he said.
He explained that Indonesia has obtained access to observe directly the readiness and preparation of the Paris 2024 Olympics and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
The upcoming Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11.
Indonesian observers comprise representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, and NOC Indonesia.
He expressed optimism that the efforts will move in a positive direction.
Currently, nine Indonesian athletes have qualified for the Paris Olympics, including runner Lalu Muhammad Zohri and archer Arif Dwi Pangestu.
