1. Indonesia Takes Over Natuna's Airspace from Singapore
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan stated that the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) had approved the proposal of flight information region (FIR) takeover from Singapore to Indonesia.
"Singapore used to have control over the air space above the Riau and Natuna Islands at an altitude of 0-37,000 feet," the minister remarked on Saturday, March 23.
Luhut spoke of having received this report while undergoing health recovery in Singapore on January 11, 2024.
2. Vietnam, Indonesia to Strengthen Economic Partnership Through Cutting-edge Technology Mastery
Indonesia and Vietnam have planned to strengthen strategic economic partnerships through the mastery of cutting-edge technology.
"For a long time, we have wanted to form a strategic economic partnership forum with Vietnam," Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs Edi Prio Pambudi said on Sunday, March 24, 2024.
He conveyed the statement after a bilateral meeting with Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nguyen Minh Hang, in Nha Trang City, Vietnam.
3. Govt Urged to Probe Alleged Human Trafficking in German Internship Scam
Beranda Perempuan and Beranda Migran, NGOs actively promoting and defending the rights of women and migrants, expressed concern over alleged human trafficking under the guise of internships in Germany. At least 1,047 students from 33 universities across Indonesia are suspected of being the victims.
Zubaidah, Director of Beranda Perempuan Indonesia, urged all parties involved to take responsibility and called for a thorough investigation. She alleged that universities were complicit in this ruthless practice.
“They (students) are trapped in this fake internship program because of the university's interference. Students are treated as educational experimental objects to be arbitrarily mobilized to meet the need for manual labor in Germany,” Zubaidah said in her official statement on Sunday, March 24. Beranda Perempuan is currently assisting the survivors at the Jambi University.
