Bekasi Rail Accident, Airlangga Train Hits Two Minibuses at Bulak Kapal Crossing

TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - A train accident occurred in Bekasi when the KA Airlangga train connecting Jakarta-Surabaya hit two minibusses at the level crossing without a gate in Bulak Kapal on Saturday noon. The accident occurred on Jalan Pahlawan, JPL 87 KA route, Aren Jaya Village, East Bekasi District, Bekasi City.
"There are no train barriers here," said the Head of the Traffic Unit of Bekasi City Metro Police, Iptu Suwandi, on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
The train accident started when a Nissan Teana minibus with registration number B 1578 KBN was coming from Bulak Kapal to Perumnas 3. Meanwhile, a Toyota Calya car with registration number B 2833 FFD was coming from the opposite direction to cross the tracks.
When the two cars were still at the crossing, a train came from the west to the east. Both cars were hit.
"When there was a collision, the sedan bounced," Suwandi said.
After being hit by a train, the Nissan Teana was thrown to the south side of the crossing and the Calya was thrown to the north side. The two bouncing cars hit three motorcycles in the area.
The vehicle involved in the incident was damaged while the Airlangga train continued its journey.
Suwandi confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident. "Thank God, the other victims had minor injuries, there were no fatalities, nothing fatal," he said.
The injured victim was taken to Sentosa Bekasi Hospital for medical treatment. Police also evacuated all vehicles involved in the accident.
