TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Suhartoyo has recently confirmed that two applicants have filed disputes over the election results (PHPU). Specifically, one applicant has filed a case regarding the presidential election, while the other applicant has filed a case regarding the legislative election, or Pileg.
“One case for the presidential election and one case for the legislative election,” Suhartoyo said in his statement at the Constitutional Court building in Central Jakarta on Friday, March 22.
When asked whether the presidential candidate pair number 3 Ganjar-Mahfud has filed such a legal case with the MK, Suhartoyo said there was no confirmation yet.
He emphasized that the MK would not encourage any party to file a legal case over the election results. “In principle, we are ready to serve those who wish to come [to challenge the election results].”
Following the announcement by the General Elections Commission (KPU) that presidential candidate pair number 2, Prabowo and Gibran Rakabuming, won the February 14 election, the campaign team of candidate pair number 1, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, lodged a legal case on March 21 to challenge the election results.
Moreover, Nurmiati La Abusale, a politician from the National Mandate Party (PAN), also filed a court case for the legislative election results in the Central Maluku Legislative Council (DPRD).
The court’s official Muhidin confirmed on Thursday, March 21, that there has been filed by an individual over the legislative election results. However, he refrained from providing further details on the issue, as the court is still reviewing it.
