KPU to Conduct Vote Recapitulation of Remaining 5 Provinces Today, Including Papua

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Elections Commission, or KPU has yet to conduct vote recapitulation at its office in Jakarta for the remaining five provinces. KPU targets to complete the recapitulation process today.
The five provinces are West Java, Maluku, Papua, Papua Pegunungan, and Southwest Papua. Based on information from KPU, the agency will conduct the vote recapitulation for the 5 (five) provinces today, Monday, March 18, 2024.
KPU Commissioner Idham Holik confirmed that the national recapitulation might be completed today. He also said that the plenary would be conducted in two panels.
"Yes, [there will be two panels] as usual so the [recapitulation process] is effective and efficient. That is the mandate of the constitution," Idham said when contacted on Sunday evening, March 17, 2024.
Another member of KPU Commissioner August Mellaz said that his side had received confirmation from the KPU offices in West Java, Maluku, Papua, Papua Pegunungan, and Southwest Papua. The provincial KPU of said regions will come to Jakarta today to carry out the national vote recapitulation process.
"West Java is planned for the vote recapitulation on Monday morning," he said when met at his office on Sunday evening.
He said that some members of the KPU of Maluku were also already in Jakarta. The KPU of Southwest Papua will arrive today at noon, while the KPU of Papua and Papua Pegunungan will arrive at seven in the evening.
"If we look at the development, as well as the updates that we always provide, we are optimistic that the deadline of March 20, 2024, regarding the results of the 2024 election will be met," said August.
