TEMPO.CO, JakartaGaruda Indonesia Group has prepared more than 1.4 million seats for domestic and international flights during the homecoming season in this year's Eid al-Fitr holiday and its return flows, which are expected to occur from April 3 to 21, 2024.

President Director of the state airliner Irfan Setiaputra said the figure increased by 18 percent compared to last year’s peak Eid homecoming season, which was around 1.2 million seats.

"We will certainly continue to monitor the development of passenger mobilities and prepare various anticipatory steps in case of mobility spike," Irfan said in a written statement on Wednesday, March 13.

Garuda Indonesia Group estimates that the peak of the 2024 Eid homecoming flow will occur on April 1, while the peak of the homecoming return flow will occur on April 13, 2024. It prepares wide-body aircraft to anticipate this momentum.

The company also added at least 27,500 seats on domestic and international routes, which will be operated by both Garuda Indonesia and Citilink. Garuda Indonesia provides at least 706,706 seats by operating the B777-300 ER, A330-300, A330-200, and B737-800NG fleets," said Irfan. "While Citilink will prepare at least 710,660 flight seats which will be served by A320 and ATR fleets."

Irfan said that during the Eid al-Fitr peak season, Garuda Indonesia Group will optimize flight capacity in various top domestic destinations, such as Padang, Solo, Palembang, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, and Makassar.

Garuda Indonesia will also prepare at least 170 additional flights, while Citilink will operate around 16 additional flights which will be operated dynamically.

"As a national flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia and Citilink are committed to always be at the forefront in ensuring the need for aviation accessibility, especially in welcoming the momentum of Eid al-Fitr this year," said Irfan.
