TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta provincial government's decision to discontinue the provision of support funds to some students under the Jakarta Excellent Student Card (KJMU) and Jakarta Smart Card Plus (KJP Plus) programs has become public limelight.
Numerous internet users have expressed their disappointment and concern with the sudden discontinuation of their KJMU and KJP Plus without any prior notice, as this would put them at risk of dropping out of college.
Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono clarified the matter, stating that this was due to the new mechanism adopted for the first stage of KJMU acceptance this year. He emphasized that the recipients must meet the applicable requirements and be registered in the Integrated Social Welfare Data(DTKS).
Heru also assured that KJP Plus and KJMU will be distributed on target based on the DTKS determined as of February and November 2022 and as of January and December 2023, which had been approved by the Social Affairs Ministry.
The data was compared with the Socio-Economic Registration Data Collection (Regsosek) to ensure that social assistance for education costs is selective, not continuous, and is adjusted based on the welfare ranking (Desil) of students or students from low-income families.
“Jakarta has synchronized data with the DTKS data that was approved in 2023, November-December, by the Ministry of Social Affairs,” Heru Budi said in his statement in North Jakarta on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.
