TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate number two Prabowo Subianto believed that Indonesia will be able to venture into the export of food within the next four years. He voiced his optimism during the Mandiri Investment Forum 2024 held at the Fairmont Hotel in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
“I think we can export food in four years. And in three years, we can achieve food independence,” the Defense Minister said.
Drawing inspiration from China and India, Prabowo remains hopeful that Indonesia can learn from their best practices. He mentioned that China managed to eradicate poverty, while India is one of the largest exporters of food products, especially rice.
“We need to learn from India and China's successful approaches in mitigating poverty,” he remarked.
Citing India as an example, Prabowo highlighted how the nation transformed from a country plagued with hunger issues to becoming the largest food exporter globally.
"In conclusion, I firmly believe that we can basically accelerate our growth,” he said.
If elected to the highest office, Prabowo pledged to tackle poverty, create jobs, and put an end to hunger.
