TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto is determined to augment Indonesia's economic growth by eight percent in the next five years. In 2023, the economy expanded by 5.05 percent.
“Basically, we can spur our growth. I have predicted that we can reach 8% growth in the next five years and even exceed it,” he said in a statement on Tuesday, March 5.
To accomplish this goal, he claimed that he would focus on eradicating poverty by creating as many job opportunities as possible.
“Because it is a guideline of the Indonesian government. We want growth, but we also aspire to eliminate poverty and create job opportunities,” the Defense Ministry said.
Additionally, he said state-owned enterprises must also support and contribute innovative strategies. Prabowo expected his future administration to make rational and efficient decisions.
“We push for efficiency. We encourage rational decisions while prioritizing the economy. We must do the best and we are optimistic that we will do so,” the Gerindra Party patron chief emphasized.
Prabowo Subianto and his running mate, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, were likely to be elected as Indonesia's president and vice president for the 2024-2029 term, according to the unofficial vote count.
